The RAA concept for this new national museum makes it the first to identify the Great War as the defining, transformative event of the 20th century, presaging World War II, the Cold War, and Vietnam, and reverberating today in the Middle East. The museum's massive artifact collection, second only to that of Britian's Imperial War Museum, is used to illustrate an in-depth analysis of WWI's continuing impact. Exhibit features in the 30,000-square-foot space include a re-created field of 9,000 poppies, a re-created trench environment, and a panoramic media/diorama event exploring America's entry into the war. Also installed are a replica of a bomb crater, multiplayer interactive tables, and oversized graphics in the style of the period.
